A gathering of warriors and martial arts enthusiasts finally held at Bithabene Studio, Jakarta on a very special occasion to introduce Kali Majapahit martial arts. The Southeast Asian martial arts system was introduced by Fred Evrard, in the pacific island of Tahiti. In 2006, after a 4-year trip around the world for further studying martial arts and traditional medicines, Fred and his wife Lila, opened another academy in the business district of Singapore.
Today, Kali Majapahit is represented in Singapore (Headquarters), Malaysia, Japan, India, Tahiti, France, Germany, Finland, Belgium, New Zealand, The Philippines, The Netherlands, and the US. Currently, Indonesia is the 14th country to officially introduce Kali Majapahit programs for adults and children as a holistic Southeast Asian Martial Arts system in the country.
The philosophy behind Kali Majapahit is that Martial Arts training is not only about physical skills and self-defence but also about living a fulfilling life and building up our mental and physical health. Every class emphasizes 3 aspects of the Art: Self-defense/Martial Arts, health (including nutrition, posture correction, breathing, etc.), and personal growth. A comprehensive rotating curriculum makes Kali Majapahit a very efficient and unique Martial Art system accessible to anyone.
Finally, after 13 years since its birth and global endeavour, Kali Majapahit Martial Arts return to its original roots in Indonesia. Kali Majapahit Indonesia was initiated by local enthusiasts under the direct supervision of the Kali Majapahit headquarters in Singapore.
Though Pencak Silat is one of the oldest and most well known martial art in the archipelago, the Majapahit empire that spread across Southeast Asia marked an important step in spreading the warrior arts across the region. Sundang Majapahit was first introduced by Mahesa Anabrang, an Admiral of the Majapahit Kingdom at that time to expand the territory of its kingdom through an expedition called ‘Pamalayu’ up to the neighbouring countries like the Philippines and the Malayan Peninsula. This rich cultural heritage is at the core of Kali Majapahit martial arts today.
34 participants from different background such as martial arts expert, entrepreneurs, celebrities, media, private security companies, special forces and biker communities have shown their interest in Kali Majapahit. They all had an amazing opportunity to learn a few Kali Majapahit basic style from Guro Ben Boeglin (Kali Majapahit Singapore).
